Dog of the Year

Club Dog of the Year

Since 2017 we have chosen our Club Dog of the Year based on the results of Club gradings throughout the year.  A points system allocates points for dogs who gain qualifying scores in our Obedience and Rally gradings.  Higher points are awarded for higher levels, acknowledging the greater complexity of tasks that the dog has to perform proficiently to gain a qualifying pass.

Trial Dog of the Year

As with the Club Dog award, our Trial Dog of the Year award is based on qualifying scores and places gained in any ANKC recognised dog performance sport.  A points system is used to rate all qualifying scores in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Tracking, Track and Search and Scent Work trials. Higher points are allocated for higher levels and also any place ribbons are acknowledged by higher points within each discipline.  Any person who wants their dog to be considered for Trial Dog of the Year must pass on information about their passes and places to the committee member who is managing that process for the year.
