Beginners Course - Puppies and Kinder
Puppy Class - Sunday 11am
Puppies must have completed their full course of vaccinations (C5 is recommended) and be less than 6 months of age to participate in Puppy Class.
Early socialization is important to your dog's future development and is a strong focus in puppy class. The program includes the following;
Induction into positive training methods
Checking equipment and using it appropriately
Appropriate rewards and how to use them for training
How dogs (and puppies) learn
How to understand and respond to your pup’s body language
Luring, use of marker words
Basic commands (down, recall, loose leash walking)
Playing with your dog
When the instructor assesses that the puppy is ready to progress they will move on to the kinder program.
Kindergarten - Sunday 11 am
Pre-requisites: completion of puppies course.
Socialization continues to be an important part of the Kindergarten class and the basics of puppy class are continued. The aim of the Kindergarten class is to mirror the first part of the Foundation class (where older dogs commence), to prepare to move into the Grade 1 course.
Kinder further develops the handler's understanding of how to communicate in a fun and playful way to bring out the best in their puppy. Handlers will expand on a range of skills introduced in Puppy class, including loose lead walking, recalls, sits, drops and stays, and reinforcing good canine manners around people and other dogs.
